Celebrate the Opportunity

As entrepreneurs and business owners, it’s incredibly important for us to stay attune to the world’s financial news. The recognition of trends, niche opportunities and the anticipation of economic movements are nothing short of necessities. However I personally, and I’m sure this resonates with the majority of you reading this, have grown tired of the incessant negativity that is spoon fed the masses daily.

Yes, things are precarious, and there is no definitive, singular resolution for the mess we have found ourselves in. But what I propose is that we begin shift this doomsday, limiting perspective into one that actually celebrates the opportunities this “calamity” has presented. The reality of the situation is that the structure of our larger global system was flawed, and needed massive renovation. Would we have preferred it happened differently? Of course we would. The painful byproducts of corporate irresponsibility, imperialist arrogance and simple greed have touched us all in some manner.

But the momentum has begun, and is ready to be harnessed. We exist in an age where the dissemination of information has created a more democratic and equitable platform for global progress than ever before. Not just in the limiting sense of more consumerism, but more comprehensively as real humanistic responsibility. Of course there will always be classes of wealth, I do not argue against that. But I would argue that they do not have to ignore the principles of mutual benefit. We all can prosper. It does not have to come at the expense of another human being.

The days of corporate monopolies, disguised as mergers, strategic acquisitions and the like are over. Commercial banking is dead. The days of building business on bricks of debt and the mortar of creative financing are over. I personally could go the rest of my life without hearing the word “derivative” ever again! So where does this leave us? Exactly where we should be, reliant on ourselves.

Strangely, no one really discusses with as much fervor about how bad things are, what actually pulled us from the first depression, or the recession of 2001. Entrepreneurs. Innovation. Risk takers. Half of our current Fortune 500 companies were started during a recession. What does this tell us? Well for one, sometimes its takes somebody skinning their knees a bit to get them stand up and do something different. Two, as the old adage goes; “every problem is an opportunity in disguise.”

There are 3 months left before we step into a new decade. How we choose to approach this next chapter, will determine its shape. Fear and unrest, or excitement and positivity.

I choose the latter.

All my best,

Thanks for this, Jay. My thoughts exactly.

I’m so excited about the new opportunities that the Internet brings that I’ve written an eBook on virtual business. Anyone can download it for free.

    Greetings from South Africa

  2. Great post. Very inspirational. Great motivation for us as entrepreneurs to roll up our sleeves and get to work. This is our time. Thanks Jay.

Jay Said: “But I would argue that they do not have to ignore the principles of mutual benefit. We all can prosper. It does not have to come at the expense of another human being.”

Hopefully people will finally start to realize that prosperity should *NOT* be viewed as a Pie: When one person “gets a piece” of prosperity, it does *NOT* mean there is less pie for everyone else.

Prosperity and Wealth should be viewed as the Flame on a Candle. If everyone else in the room is holding unlit candles, and I am the only “prosperous” person because my candle is lit, I can light each and every candle in that room without taking anything away from my prosperity.

Until the average person understands that, and sheds from their lives the petty jealousy and misplaced class-envy, there unfortunately will always be far fewer people in the wealthier classes than in the others. I am truly proud to be part of an organization, Jay, that has a leader like you that understands the true nature of prosperity fully and completely.

    Best Regards,
    Troy Allen

We all know that the government will not be able to finance our retirement. Those days are over. We have to look out for ourselves and do what it takes to make our own future bright. Too many people are busy watching garbage TV and playing video games instead of putting in the effort to create a better life for themselves and their families. Then they go to work the next day and complain about how much they hate their jobs. People need to turn the television off and read a book! Times are changing and if you don’t educate yourself for the new economy then you’re going to get left behind.

    Great email Jay!

    Thanks,
    Bill

I appreciated your thoughts in this article. I am now reading for the second time a book by Vishal Mangalwadi , Truth and transformation, A manifesto for ailing nations. I think he has great insight into the inner life of nations, their successes and their reasons for their failures.

  6. This is a super article Jay and like Reinhild above, I am so excited about the future of the internet and what it has to hold, that we have started giving workshops to offline businesses in hopes that they too can learn about the prosperity that abounds on the internet.

We are starting in Cincinnati, OH and then Austin, TX, we are so excited to share our 18+ years of internet marketing experience, that we are about to burst.

So if you are a professional that has a list of business owners that you work with who needs help getting their web presents put together, just click my name here and track me down via my website.

Thanks Jay! As a new netraupaneur I’m really scared right now starting out on something I really have no knowledge of how to make a living with. My family thinks I’m crazy as a 62-year old man who was disabled by a brain injury in 2005 that caused me to have to retire from the corporate world. As a leading-wave baby boomer I trusted that the company I was working for would take care of me as they always had. Not so in today’s world. Risking what little savings I have on this venture is proof in my family’s eyes that I have lost it. Well, brain damaged or no, I think I’ve found it! So it may take me a little longer to grasp things than it did, I am determined to be one of those ‘Millionaires’ you intend to help make it. So thanks again for this uplifting letter and oh, by the way, set me up a good chair on the stage ’cause here comes that old man!

  8. WE can make a choice…. Stand in line for a free government hand-out [we know where that is headed] or go out and kick some ass and get the job done. I for one am kicking some ass!!
    See ya’ll at the top!

  9. People need to wake up to the lack of entreprenuers that have been voted into office of the Senate & Congress of the this country, to vote them out to get people that are more business friendly no matter what political they belong to, We need people understand that small business are the companeies that create new employment for the many citzens of our nation, keeping our eyes on that goal is what will make us and our country stonger than ever.
    Thanks
    George Park Sr.

  12. Todd Pattison says:

I agree Jay . I’ve taken Aaron Parkinson’s advice and gone on a news & TV Fast . Sick of hearing the negativity thats being crammed down our collective throats . Its sad to see and unfortunate that bad news sells , when there are a lot of positive things the media could be focusing on .

  13. Phenessa Cosgrove says:

Your the man Jay! After reading your article this has just confirmed my gut-feeling I have had for a very long time that I am on the right track. As a newbie entrepenueur, I have no idea of the process of this business but show me the way. I strongly believe that Life is for Living.

  14. Hi,Jay,How you doing?I’m sure amazing.

Excellent, the way you guys keep up with the trends and change things accordingly and come up with new and more effective ways to do things.

I sometimes wish that I could look into someones eyes and see what there problems are, so that I could help them and by the same token transfer all the knowledge that I have acquired from Carbon Copy Pro, Wealth Masters International, from plugging in to John Jackson every day and listening to how other leaders became successful, Mike Koenig’s calls, etc, so that people can be aware that there is light at the end of the tunnel and stop watching the news negative propaganda and television and rather build themselves up to become great and stop proscrastinating and hoping and praying that the government or a job will provide and just take that FIRST STEP TO FREEDOM from a traffic, a job, a boss, living with debt.

I’ve come to the conclusion that you can only help people, if they are willing to admit they have a problem and want to help themselves.

Most professional people are just living on a higher level of being broke (higher credit limits and more debt) and it is amazing that they can’t see it, like they have blinkers on or maybe they are in denial. Our schools systems throughout the world does not teach the financial education that I’ve learned from you guys.

I am happy and grateful that I found you and your amazing system that works.People need to work it.

    Greetings form United Kingdom.

See you soon at The Paris Hotel, in Las Vegas

  16. Ted O'Grady says:

I’m writing from Brasil where I work with kids who play footbal barefoot and are positively exultant to receive a new colored T-shirt with a few simple emblems etched on the front and back. The “crise econômica”, of course, affects Brasil as it does all countries, but I am truly moved by people who have very few material possessions yet go through life smiling, quickly adapting to changing circumstances with surprising agility developed through a lifetime of experience. People who look at a thirty year old junk car and see value in it, fix it with their own hands, borrowing or making parts, then offer you a ride anytime for free. There are all kinds of entrepreneurial activities going on around me, in tourism (agents and hotel owners), motor taxi drivers, door to door vendors, corner markets and bakeries, small restaurants, and middle men of all sorts that can and will do anything for you because, of course, they know how to do everything!
Living in connection with and awareness of others, wanting to help others in small things, being generous of heart and time, these are things that I treasure in my life here.
Poverty is a state of mind. A lot of rich guys are really, really poor.
Thanks, Jay, for being introspective, for seeing through the smokescreen. Remember that America is a great, great country because of those very values that endure despite the current “crisis”. All we have to do is look around and see where we can help, what we love to do, where our skills will benefit others, then invest ourselves without reserve and without expectation of reward.
That, I believe, is the real secret of any successful entrepreneur.

  17. Jay,

As an options trader i like to dabble in some contacts that keep my risk management in check. However, I do agree that the abused greed from this leverage has not brought much good.

A new decade is upon us, just thinking about how the dynamic of this industry and free enterprise will be in ten years is a stimulating thought.

Vegas is what solidified my belief over a year ago, it’s in many ways my roots of this company & industry. Knowing what I know now compared to then makes me enthused for the decade to come.

Any suggestions, stories or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

  19. Excellent… You hit the nail on the head, my friend. As a leader, I will follow other leaders. I will not be drug by followers. You are an inspiration to the entire CCpro community. Thanks

  20. Amber says:

Great point Jay! What a wonderful world it would be if we all remebered that by helping others, we help ourselves too! I live in a remote area of Alaska where for the most part, people mind their own business and leave each other alone…except when there is a crisis. Then you see people come crawling out of the woodwork, tools in hand (or whatever they have to bring), ready to do whatever is necessary to help their friends and neighbors. And right on to Ted O’Grady, keep the Spirit going friend!

  21. Dave Wilson says:

Well put Jay, Reliance on ourselves is a great place to be and the opportunities are endless if we look and are willing to change :)

Look forward to meeting you some day as well as many more entrepreneurs
